DESCRIPTION:
This is a project I did in my Time-based Typography class. The theme was villains. I chose the villain to be Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. I chose this sound clip because if gave me a lot of ideas originally to animate and design. I had originally three other ideas before coming up with the final style and look. The reason I did the piece the way it is now is because the movie shows Patrick as a very clean man. He also shows himself as a straight laced character most of the time, when he is not killing. So the idea was to go with the same feeling the movie portrays. The big thing I wanted to look at was the business card scene in the movie shows a big way on how Patrick feels about people who he converses with. Using this feeling I got, I then designed each section then I animated accordingly. I originally had a lot more going on but I simplified it down to keep in with how the piece should feel.
